Universal Health Services Inc. (NYSE: UHS) announced that Matthew J. Peterson, executive vice president and president of behavioral health, submitted his resignation effective June 19, 2026.

Peterson, who joined the company in 2019, plans to pursue an external career opportunity that the company described as non-competitive. His unvested stock options, restricted stock units and performance-based restricted stock units will terminate on his departure date.

Chief Executive Officer and President Marc D. Miller will assume interim responsibilities for the behavioral health division alongside senior vice presidents. The company said it will begin searching for a permanent replacement immediately.

Peterson will receive no compensation after his departure beyond accrued and vested amounts under employee benefit plans and payments required by law, according to the company statement.
