CGI adds AI features to government software platform
CGI (NYSE: GIB) announced expanded artificial intelligence capabilities within CGI Advantage, its enterprise resource planning platform for state and local government agencies. The company said the enhancements embed AI into core business processes and system workflows.
The new AI features include context-aware assistance, natural language access through an AI assistant called Samantha, AI-powered summaries for decision support, intelligent recommendations, and workflow support through AI agents. These capabilities integrate across finance, human resources, procurement, and operations functions within the platform.
"Government organizations need AI capabilities that meet their requirements for transparency, accountability and policy alignment," said Surabhi Subramanyam, Senior Vice-President, Government Solutions at CGI. "CGI Advantage embeds AI directly into ERP processes with built-in controls for transparency, security, and oversight, enabling agencies to adopt AI responsibly while keeping people at the center of decision-making and delivering real operational value."
CGI said the AI functionality includes governance controls that allow agencies to manage feature adoption and usage. The company stated that AI capabilities are configurable, role-based and auditable, with transparency into data usage and output generation.
CGI Advantage serves state and local government agencies for financial management, human resources, performance budgeting, procurement, and business intelligence operations. The company reported fiscal 2025 revenue of CA$15.91 billion and employs 94,000 consultants and professionals globally.
