Gecko Robotics tests Ouster REV8 lidar for infrastructure inspection

May 21, 2026 6:01 AM

Gecko Robotics is integrating Ouster Inc.'s (NASDAQ: OUST) new REV8 digital lidar sensors into its Cantilever operating platform for infrastructure inspection applications, according to a press release from Ouster.

The REV8 sensors provide colorized 3D data alongside ambient infrared and intensity data, which Gecko says will help its artificial intelligence software detect structural anomalies that were previously difficult to visualize. Gecko currently uses Ouster's digital lidar technology to navigate industrial environments and create digital twins of infrastructure assets.

"By capturing every 3D point in full color with even greater precision, our software can do more than just map the physical world – it can understand asset health with better certainty and deliver more actionable data to our customers," said Chase David, Forward-Deployed Engineer at Gecko Robotics.

Gecko Robotics operates robotic inspection systems for energy, oil and gas, and manufacturing companies, as well as the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy for nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. The company's robots climb, crawl, fly and swim to collect data on infrastructure that is processed through its AI-powered Cantilever platform.

Ouster designs lidar sensors, cameras and AI software for industrial, robotics, automotive and smart infrastructure applications. The San Francisco-based company serves customers globally with offices across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
