Extra Space Storage Inc. (NYSE: EXR) elected Crystal Call Maggelet and RJ Pittman to its board of directors at the company's annual shareholder meeting on May 14, according to a press release statement.

Maggelet serves as CEO and Chairperson of FJ Management Inc., which operates the Maverik convenience store chain with more than 850 locations, along with fuel transportation divisions and TAB Bank. She founded the Crystal Inn hotel chain in 1993 and has held board positions at Savage Services, Intermountain Health and Pilot Flying J. Maggelet holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Pittman was CEO and Chairman of Matterport, a spatial data company, from 2018 to 2025. He previously served as eBay's first Chief Product Officer and held senior roles at Apple and Google. Pittman holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford.

Maggelet will serve on the Nominating, Governance & Corporate Responsibility Committee, while Pittman will join the Audit Committee. The additions follow the departure of Spencer Kirk and Diane Olmstead from the board, with Kirk remaining as a special advisor.

"Crystal's execution in multi-unit retail operations and real estate, combined with RJ's leadership in AI strategy and technology driven customer experiences in and outside of the real estate sector, provide immense value to our shareholders," said Ken Woolley, Chairman of the Extra Space Board.

The Salt Lake City-based self storage REIT operates 4,344 stores across 42 states and Washington D.C. as of March 31, comprising approximately 3.0 million units and 335.6 million square feet of rentable space.
