Nebius partners with Bloom Energy for AI infrastructure power needs
Nebius (NASDAQ: NBIS) announced a partnership with Bloom Energy to deploy fuel cell technology for powering its AI infrastructure expansion. The agreement replaces previously planned combustion-based technology at the company's first U.S. deployment.
The partnership includes 328 MW of installed capacity planned to become operational this year. Bloom's fuel cell systems will provide behind-the-meter electricity for Nebius and support compute capacity for its AI cloud platform.
The fuel cells generate electricity without combustion and can be deployed on accelerated timelines, reducing dependence on new transmission infrastructure. The modular systems face lighter permitting requirements than combustion-based generation, according to the companies.
"Power remains a key constraint for AI infrastructure build-outs," said Andrey Korolenko, Chief Product and Infrastructure Officer at Nebius. "We chose Bloom because their fuel cells solve that directly: Clean power with virtually no pollutants is deployed onsite, on the timelines our customers need, with the availability AI workloads require."
Aman Joshi, Chief Commercial Officer at Bloom Energy, said the partnership combines Bloom's fuel cell technology with AI infrastructure to deliver a solution at scale.
The fuel cell systems produce low emissions with minimal water use compared to traditional power generation methods. Nebius operates AI infrastructure sites across the United States and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
The long-term partnership supports Nebius's U.S. expansion with potential for global deployment as the company scales operations, according to the press release statement.
