Talen Energy names Daniel Kelly as general counsel and corporate secretary
Talen Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: TLN) announced that Daniel Kelly has been appointed as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, according to a company statement.
Kelly will lead the company's legal, regulatory, and external affairs functions, oversee corporate governance, and serve as the primary contact for the Board of Directors in these areas. He replaces John Wander, who retired from the positions following a transition period with Kelly.
"Dan is a seasoned attorney in our industry with significant experience advising management and boards on a variety of legal and regulatory issues," said Talen President Terry Nutt.
Kelly brings 25 years of legal and governance experience to the Houston-based power producer. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Vistra Corp., where he oversaw a team of 30 attorneys and compliance specialists and managed litigation, environmental, nuclear, labor and employment, and commercial regulatory compliance activities.
Prior to Vistra, Kelly worked as an attorney at the Dallas office of Vinson & Elkins LLP, focusing on general business litigation, energy and regulatory matters, condemnation, and media litigation. He also served as a judicial law clerk for judges at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Kelly holds a law degree from the University of Michigan and an undergraduate degree from Lawrence University. Before law school, he worked as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Kent Conrad of North Dakota.
Talen operates approximately 13.1 gigawatts of power infrastructure in the United States, including 2.2 gigawatts of nuclear power. The company produces and sells electricity, capacity, and ancillary services into wholesale U.S. power markets.
