AECOM joint venture wins contract for Singapore waste facility phase 2
A joint venture between AECOM (NYSE: ACM), Binnies and Ramboll has been appointed by Singapore's National Environment Agency to provide consultancy services for Phase 2 of the Integrated Waste Management Facility, according to a company statement.
The facility is part of Singapore's Tuas Nexus, the country's first integrated water reclamation and solid waste treatment facility. Phase 2 will process up to 2,900 tons of waste daily, converting waste into energy while supporting resource recovery and exploring carbon capture integration.
The joint venture previously served as Owner's Engineer for Phase 1 of the project and will continue its role for the second phase. The team will provide services including planning, design, procurement support, construction supervision, and testing and commissioning.
The facility's location alongside the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant enables energy and resource recovery while reducing environmental impact in Singapore's limited land area. The joint venture will use a multi-contract delivery approach developed during Phase 1.
"The IWMF is a landmark project that reflects Singapore's leadership in sustainable resource management," said Ian Chung, Chief Executive of AECOM's Asia region.
The partnership combines experience from more than 200 waste-to-energy facilities delivered worldwide. AECOM reported revenue of $16.1 billion in fiscal year 2025.
Once completed, Phase 2 will contribute to Singapore's integrated approach to waste and water management as part of the country's long-term solid waste management strategy.
