QIAGEN partners with NVIDIA to integrate AI into drug discovery platform

May 19, 2026 4:05 PM

QIAGEN N.V. (NYSE: QGEN) announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to integrate accelerated computing and the NVIDIA BioNeMo platform with its Digital Insights bioinformatics business. The partnership aims to enhance how researchers identify disease mechanisms, therapeutic targets and biomarkers using artificial intelligence.

The collaboration will apply graph-based AI approaches to biomedical knowledge graphs, allowing pharmaceutical and biotechnology researchers to explore evidence across biological systems. The integration combines QIAGEN's curated biomedical databases with NVIDIA's computing capabilities to address challenges in connecting complex biological information including genes, diseases, pathways and compounds.

"QIAGEN Digital Insights has spent more than 25 years building the biomedical knowledge foundation that researchers rely on to interpret complex biology," said Nitin Sood, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Portfolio & Innovation at QIAGEN. "Through this collaboration with NVIDIA, we can accelerate the impact of that knowledge by combining it with advanced AI to help customers improve critical steps in drug discovery."

The partnership will support applications across the drug discovery process, including target identification and validation, drug repurposing, biomarker discovery, pathway analysis and hypothesis generation from multi-omics data. QIAGEN's knowledge bases are currently used by more than 150,000 scientists worldwide and supported by more than 70,000 scientific publications.

Initial pilot programs will be available to select pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners, with broader availability expected following validation. The QIAGEN Discovery Platform will incorporate graph-based retrieval AI using frameworks such as PyTorch Geometric and GPU accelerated GraphRAG systems delivered through the NVIDIA BioNeMo platform.

The announcement was made at the BIO-IT World Conference & Expo in Boston, according to the press release statement.
