Illumia appoints Laura Newell-McLaughlin as Chief Operating Officer

Illumia, a technology solutions provider for payments and operational systems, has named Laura Newell-McLaughlin as Chief Operating Officer. The company, a unit of Roper Technologies (NASDAQ: ROP), serves higher education, healthcare, and senior living institutions.



Newell-McLaughlin will oversee Enterprise Applications, Banking Operations, Program Management, AI Transformation, Client Support, Supply Chain, and Chennai Operations. Her responsibilities include leading operational unification efforts and implementing generative AI across company operations.



The executive brings over 30 years of experience in payments and campus commerce. She has been with the company since 1993 through its various iterations, including Academic Management Services, Sallie Mae, Higher One, Blackboard, and Transact Campus. Most recently, she served as Chief Commercial Officer.



"Laura has a deep understanding of our business, our customers, and the operational discipline required to serve mission-critical organizations where reliability matters every day," said Greg Brown, CEO of Illumia.



Newell-McLaughlin previously held a leadership position at Sallie Mae and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in Business Management from Rhode Island College.



Illumia, formerly known as Transact + CBORD, provides payments, access, foodservice, and credentialing systems to more than 10,000 institutions. The appointment comes as the company continues operating under its unified brand structure.
