Canva brings design tools directly into Google Gemini
Investing.com -- Canva announced on Tuesday an integration with Google Gemini that allows users to create and edit designs without leaving the AI assistant interface.
The integration follows similar launches with Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot. Users can now generate new designs, search existing content, and make edits through text prompts inside Gemini by typing @Canva after connecting their accounts.
The tool enables users to create branded designs from chat prompts, browse and summarize existing Canva files, edit text and images across slides, and resize designs for different platforms. Teams using Canva Enterprise can autofill brand templates using context from Gemini conversations.
Powered by Canva's MCP Server, the AI Connector allows the Gemini app to connect to Canva accounts. Users can reference their Canva Brand Kit in prompts to generate designs that match their colors, fonts, and visual identity.
The integration includes Magic Layers, which converts Gemini-generated images into editable layouts by separating elements into individual layers. Users can modify text and visual components within the same workflow.
Canva stated the connection remains private and secure, with all content syncing between the platforms. The company said it is building Canva as an open platform to reduce context switching in creative workflows.
The expansion comes as Canva positions itself across AI assistant platforms where users develop and refine ideas. The company said design should be accessible within the tools people use for collaboration.
