IBM expands AI security offerings, joins Anthropic's Project Glasswing

May 19, 2026 1:14 PM

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced an expansion of its enterprise security program and joined Anthropic's Project Glasswing initiative to defend critical software infrastructure.

Project Glasswing unites security and technology companies to protect essential infrastructure and share vulnerability findings across industries. Through this collaboration, IBM has been identifying and fixing vulnerabilities in widely used software and sharing those discoveries with the broader community.

"AI-powered attacks have already moved beyond what traditional defenses can match. We're helping clients assess their exposure and putting tools like IBM Concert to work in more environments," said Rob Thomas, SVP Software & Chief Commercial Officer at IBM.

IBM's expanded security portfolio includes IBM Concert, which uses artificial intelligence to help organizations identify and fix vulnerabilities by combining application, infrastructure, and network signals into a single operational view. The platform includes IBM Concert Secure Coder, which detects risks and generates automatic fixes as code is written.

IBM Consulting offers services to help clients manage AI-driven security risks through redesigned vulnerability and open-source management systems. The company also provides IBM Autonomous Security, a multi-agent service that delivers coordinated detection and response capabilities.

The company leverages its open-source leadership through IBM and Red Hat to help clients mitigate risks associated with unsupported code. IBM contributes fixes proactively and maintains enterprise-grade versions of widely used open-source components.

IBM shares findings from Project Glasswing through coordinated disclosure, upstream open-source patches, and best practices with other participants. The company operates in more than 175 countries and provides hybrid cloud, AI, and consulting services to governments and corporate entities in critical infrastructure sectors including financial services, telecommunications, and healthcare.
