Dell launches PowerStore Elite storage platform with performance gains
Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) announced Dell PowerStore Elite, a storage platform that the company says delivers performance improvements and increased efficiency through software and hardware upgrades.
The system offers performance increases of up to 3x compared to previous generation systems and 3x network throughput improvements, according to the company. PowerStore Elite supports block, file, virtual machine and container workloads with mixed-generation clustering capabilities.
The platform includes three new models: PowerStore 1500, 5500 and 9500, with the ability to pack up to 40 drives and 5.8 petabytes of effective capacity into a single 3U chassis. The hardware is based on Intel Xeon Scalable processors with DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5 support.
Dell raised its data reduction guarantee from 5:1 to 6:1, which the company describes as industry-leading. The system uses industry-standard E3 NVMe flash rather than proprietary technology.
The platform integrates AI-driven automation features, including Dell AIOps for fleet-wide operations and Dell Cyber Detect for ransomware detection. Dell states the AI capabilities can reduce manual effort by up to 95% and detect ransomware with 99.99% accuracy.
PowerStore Elite includes Lifecycle Extension services that allow existing customers to upgrade their systems with data-in-place transitions and includes deployment, technical advisory services and capacity expansion options.
"PowerStore Elite isn't just the next generation, it's the new gold standard," said Arthur Lewis, president of Dell's Infrastructure Solutions Group.
Dell PowerStore Elite will be available globally in July 2026, while Dell Cyber Detect for PowerStore will be available in the third quarter of 2026. The announcement was made at Dell Technologies World in Las Vegas.
