IceCure Medical reports kidney cancer study results at medical conference
IceCure Medical Ltd. (NASDAQ: ICCM) presented clinical data at the European Conference on Interventional Oncology showing treatment outcomes for its ProSense cryoablation system across multiple cancer types.
The ICESECRET trial, a prospective multicenter study, evaluated ProSense for small renal masses in 114 patients with a mean age of 69.1 years. The study reported an 83.9% recurrence-free rate at a median follow-up of 4.0 years. For patients with tumors measuring 3 centimeters or smaller, the recurrence-free rate reached 89.4%. The technical success rate was 92.5% in procedures without anatomical limitations.
A separate study from Turkey examined early-stage breast cancer treatment in 26 patients with 28 tumors. The research found no residual disease in evaluable tumors at six and 12-month follow-up imaging. All procedures were performed on an outpatient basis, and patients reported a mean pain score of 1.8 on a scale of one to five.
Research from Hungary focused on fibroadenoma treatment in 78 women. The study showed median volume reductions of 80.6% at six months and 92.9% at 12 months following ProSense treatment.
The company stated that the European Conference on Interventional Oncology featured its first dedicated breast cryoablation course, which exceeded capacity due to registration demand. The course included hands-on training conducted by physicians from medical institutions in Milan, Paris, and Rotterdam.
ProSense received FDA marketing authorization in 2024 for treating low-risk breast cancer with adjuvant endocrine therapy in women aged 70 and above. The system uses liquid nitrogen to create freezing zones for tumor destruction and is marketed in the United States, Europe, and Asia for various approved indications.
