Agilent wins TSA contract for airport security tech ahead of 2026 World Cup

May 19, 2026 8:06 AM

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) has been awarded a contract by the Transportation Security Administration to deploy its Bulk Alarm Resolution Technology systems at security checkpoints in FIFA World Cup 2026 host city airports across the United States.

The BRT systems will screen larger quantities of liquids, powders, and solids commonly encountered in airport security operations. The technology uses Agilent's Surface Offset Raman Spectroscopy combined with algorithms to screen liquids, gels, creams, solids and powders through various containers at security checkpoints.

"TSA's deployment of the BRT, our next-generation alarm resolution technology, is a significant milestone," said Geoff Winkett, vice president and general manager of the Spectroscopy and Vacuum Division at Agilent.

The deployment aims to enable screening of food, liquids, creams and other items that are commonly surrendered at security checkpoints, according to Dr. Robert Stokes, director of detection and security at Agilent.

The BRT technology joins Agilent's existing Insight Series Alarm Resolution systems designed for airport security checkpoints. Both systems meet global detection requirements for screening liquids, aerosols, and gels and can provide detection through barriers such as opaque containers or multi-layered materials.

Agilent generated revenue of $6.95 billion in fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 18,000 people worldwide, according to the company's press release statement.
