Magna awarded monitoring system program with European OEM
Magna International Inc. (NYSE: MGA) has been awarded a Driver and Occupant Monitoring System program with a European original equipment manufacturer, the company announced. The contract positions Magna's mirror-integrated system as a platform-level solution for the automaker.
The system combines a behind-the-glass camera architecture with software-enabled functionality. Magna will provide the DMS software and system integration support designed to work with centralized vehicle compute platforms.
"This award reflects a growing shift in how driver monitoring is being deployed at scale — not as a standalone feature, but as part of an integrated vehicle architecture," said Matteo Del Sorbo, President Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting.
The mirror-integrated system is designed to add driver and occupant awareness capabilities without increasing interior complexity or visible hardware. The technology consolidates sensing, illumination, electronics and software into a single unit.
Key features include mirror-integrated camera architecture that preserves interior design, positioning for monitoring performance, scalable hardware and software foundation adaptable across vehicle platforms and regions, and software-enabled functionality designed to support future feature expansion.
The system includes system-level integration support aligned with centralized and software-defined vehicle architectures. The award represents an expansion of Magna's DMS/OMS across global vehicle platforms.
Aurora, Ontario-based Magna is an automotive supplier with operations spanning 28 countries. The company provides manufacturing and vehicle systems to automakers in North America, Europe, and China.
