Qatar says no special arrangements for energy exports

May 19, 2026 7:04 AM

Investing.com -- Qatar's foreign ministry said today that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has added complexity to regional supply chains, though no special arrangements are currently in place for energy product exports.

A foreign ministry spokesperson stated that under international law, no state bordering natural straits may obstruct passage. The spokesperson added that communication is ongoing between regional leaders and conflict parties to prevent a return to escalation.

Two LNG tankers have crossed the Strait of Hormuz, but that does not mean normal traffic has resumed, the spokesperson said.
