West Pharmaceutical Services ramps production following cyberattack
Investing.com -- West Pharmaceutical Services provided an update Friday on its recovery from a cyberattack that forced the company to take systems offline earlier this month.
The company reported significant progress in restoring operations globally across its manufacturing facilities.
In its Proprietary Products Segment, all High Value Products sites are fully operational for shipping and receiving, with manufacturing ramping production at all locations, including the company's largest site in Eschweiler, Germany. Standard Packaging sites, covering Core and Seals operations, are also fully operational with production ramping at most facilities.
HVP Delivery Devices sites have returned to full operational status for shipping and receiving, with production increasing across all locations. Most West Vantage sites are operational with critical processes for shipping and receiving now active as manufacturing ramps up.
The company stated its primary focus remains ensuring continuity of supply to customers as production scales up.
West Pharmaceutical Services first detected a network systems issue on Monday, May 4, which was later confirmed as a cyberattack. The company activated incident response protocols, took systems offline for containment, notified law enforcement, and engaged external cyber-forensic experts.
By Wednesday, May 7, the company reported that core enterprise systems were operational globally, with critical restart activities underway in a controlled and phased manner. The investigation into the nature and scope of the incident, including potential data impacts, remains ongoing.
