Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) announced a $100 million investment to expand manufacturing and supply chain operations for Silvus Technologies, its subsidiary specializing in tactical networking and electromagnetic spectrum operations.

The investment centers on a new 165,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The expansion is expected to create 200 new positions and will increase production capacity for Silvus's StreamCaster MANET radios used by defense, law enforcement and public safety agencies.

The Salt Lake City facility will serve as a hub for high-volume production, leveraging Utah's technology ecosystem and workforce. The project received support from the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development and the Utah Inland Port Authority.

"As the landscape for defense technology continues to evolve, the need for resilient, high-bandwidth communications has never been more critical," said Jack Molloy, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Motorola Solutions. "This investment, which is in addition to our expansion in Los Angeles, helps ensure that Silvus is prepared for the growing demand for their industry-leading mesh networking and electromagnetic spectrum operations solutions."

Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox expressed support for the expansion, stating the investment will create high-quality jobs and strengthen Utah's role in aerospace, defense and advanced communications manufacturing.

The new Salt Lake City team will join Motorola Solutions' global workforce of 23,000 employees focused on developing mission-critical communication technologies. Silvus Technologies, headquartered in Los Angeles, produces tactical networking equipment and electromagnetic spectrum operations solutions for defense and public safety applications.
