Clopay launches garage doors with switchable glass panels

May 14, 2026 11:37 AM

Clopay Corporation, a subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE: GFF), announced the introduction of C-Power enabled Click-to-Conceal panels for its garage door products. The technology allows glass panels to switch from clear to opaque using a wireless remote.

The switchable glass technology is available on Clopay's Avante and Avante Sleek residential doors, as well as commercial Models 904 and 906. The C-Power system delivers continuous power directly to garage door sections to enable the glass transition functionality.

According to Heather Bender, Clopay's Senior Director of Product Marketing, the panels provide a solution for customers who want modern glass doors with privacy control options. The technology addresses visibility and security concerns associated with traditional glass garage doors.

For commercial applications, the panels can serve automotive showrooms, retail spaces, restaurants, and event venues. The glass can display content during business hours and provide concealment when needed for security purposes.

The panels default to opaque when power is off and switch to clear when activated. When transparent, the glass allows natural light to reduce artificial lighting needs during daytime. In opaque mode, the panels block UV rays and limit heat gain.

The Click-to-Conceal panels are housed in weather-resistant aluminum frames measuring 2-1/8 inches thick. The wiring system is integrated within door sections. Frame options include multiple colors and anodized finishes, with or without insulation.

Glazing options include Clear/White Opaque and Gray Clear/Gray Opaque in laminated or insulated tempered glass configurations.

Clopay Corporation, founded in 1964 and headquartered in Mason, Ohio, operates as North America's largest manufacturer of residential and commercial garage doors. The company operates four manufacturing facilities and 57 distribution centers.
