Rockwell Automation adds power, motor control features to networking solution

May 14, 2026 8:06 AM

Rockwell Automation Inc. (NYSE: ROK) announced new capabilities for its EtherNet/IP In-cabinet Solution on May 14, adding a supplemental power tap and expanding connectivity to additional motor control components.

The updated solution now supports 140ME Motor Protective Switching Devices and E100 Electronic Overload Relays through a 100-E Contactor communication module. The supplemental power tap helps maintain performance as device counts increase, reducing the need for oversized power supplies.

"The EtherNet/IP In‑cabinet Solution continues to transform how customers design and deploy control panels," said Kelly Passineau, product manager at Rockwell Automation. "With the addition of a supplemental power tap and connections for additional panel components, we're giving them even more ways to reduce installation time, improve diagnostics and build intelligent, data-driven systems with less complexity."

The Milwaukee-based industrial automation company states the solution can reduce wiring time by up to 80% compared to traditional hard-wired installations in certain case studies when implemented according to recommended standards. The compact components allow more devices to fit within the same footprint, potentially reducing overall panel size.

The EtherNet/IP In-cabinet Solution enables real-time communication between devices inside control panels and provides diagnostic capabilities. The system allows manufacturers to scale without major redesigns or infrastructure changes.

"This release is the next step on our roadmap that includes expanding support for additional panel components, deeper data access and richer diagnostic capabilities," said Jimmy Alvarez, director of Portfolio and Business Management at Rockwell Automation.

The solution targets panel builders, manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers seeking to streamline industrial networking and simplify in-panel wiring. Rockwell Automation employs approximately 26,000 people in more than 100 countries.
