May 14, 2026 8:03 AM

Apyx Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: APYX) announced publication of a retrospective study in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery - Global Open evaluating patient outcomes following liposuction with and without its Renuvion technology.

The 113-patient study, led by Pablo D. Huber, MD, found that patients receiving liposuction combined with Renuvion reported higher satisfaction scores compared to those receiving power-assisted liposuction alone. Patients in the Renuvion group reported satisfaction with reduced excess skin appearance at 87.8 versus 73.8 on the Body-Q scale. Among patients who did not undergo abdominoplasty, satisfaction with abdominal appearance was 68.8 versus 45.0.

The study showed that 30.0% of Renuvion patients required abdominoplasty compared to 67.1% in the power-assisted liposuction group. Revision rates were 12.0% for Renuvion patients versus 37.5% for the comparison group. Complication rates remained similar between groups at 2.5% and 2.7% respectively.

The study evaluated long-term patient-reported outcomes over 12 months using Body-Q assessments, procedural data, and safety profiles from patients treated by a single surgeon. Renuvion uses helium plasma radiofrequency technology for tissue contraction during aesthetic procedures.

Apyx Medical develops surgical aesthetic products including Renuvion and the AYON Body Contouring System for cosmetic surgery applications, and J-Plasma for hospital surgical procedures. The company reports that more than 2 million liposuction procedures are performed globally each year according to ISAPS 2024 Survey data.
