UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Idaho today announced it provided more than $425,000 in financial support to community organizations for new and existing programs that address everyday barriers to health — including limited access to nutritious food, reliable transportation and family support — so more Idahoans can receive care and support closer to home.

This funding builds on previous support to Idaho organizations to expand access to care, strengthen the healthcare workforce and address gaps in services for underserved communities.

“Many Idahoans face real challenges that make it harder to stay healthy, from limited food access to transportation gaps to a lack of nearby family support,” said Keith Mason, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Idaho. “By collaborating with organizations across the state, we’re helping bring resources closer to home into the communities where people live, work and need them most.”

The support focuses on addressing local needs, expanding access to care and improving health outcomes for Idahoans, including families, seniors, pregnant women and people living in rural areas.

Family support and early intervention ($198,000) — to expand access to culturally responsive family support, parenting resources and preventive care through UnitedHealthcare’s Building Family Resources and Support Initiative, this funding will support three organizations:

• Idaho Hispanic Foundation — to grow family resource center services and culturally responsive programming.
• Nez Perce Tribe — to strengthen local family support, parenting resources and early intervention for Tribal families.
• Bannock Youth Foundation — to enhance family support services and connection to local resources.

Food access and nutrition ($171,000) — to connect eligible pregnant women and families to healthy food and nutrition education, this funding will support two organizations:

• St. Luke’s Community Health & Engagement — to expand programs providing fruits and vegetables to pregnant women. “This support will help us expand our produce prescription programs to expecting moms allowing access to quality nutrition support during pregnancy, when healthy choices can have a lasting impact for both moms and babies,” said Kyli Gough, Community Engagement Director, St. Luke’s Health System.
• The Idaho Foodbank — to deliver hands-on nutrition education and cooking classes for families statewide. “Bringing food access and nutrition education together helps families make healthier choices during critical stages of life,” said Randy Ford, CEO, The Idaho Foodbank. “This collaboration helps ensure pregnant women and families across Idaho have the tools and support they need for better long-term health.”

Children’s safety, wellbeing and learning ($37,000) — to advance research, coordination, and cross-sector collaboration in support of children and families, this funding will support three organizations:

• Idaho Voices for Children — to support research on children’s safety and wellbeing and a statewide literacy initiative for children in need.
• United Way of Treasure Valley — to strengthen coordination and partnership infrastructure across Community Schools.
• University of Idaho Project ECHO — to support planning, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven design of a child‑ and family‑focused education course for community schools.

Transportation assistance for older adults ($20,000) — to help older adults, especially those in rural areas, travel to medical care, groceries, pharmacies and community activities, this funding will support two organizations:

• McCall Senior Center — to provide reliable transportation so seniors may reach essential health and community services.
• Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho — to build on an initial collaboration that helped provide more than 5,500 rides for rural seniors since 2025. “With UnitedHealthcare’s support, we’ve been able to ensure more seniors in rural communities maintain their independence and can get to the doctor, grocery store or other essential services,” said Pam Pearson, senior program coordinator, Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho.

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Idaho serves Idahoans who are enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid through the Idaho Medicaid Plus (IMPlus) program and the Medicare‑Medicaid Coordinated Plan (MMCP).
