Americold expands partnership with Dutch retailer PLUS for frozen logistics
Americold (NYSE: COLD) announced an expanded partnership with PLUS, a Netherlands-based supermarket cooperative operating approximately 440 stores, to provide centralized frozen logistics operations through the company's Barneveld distribution center.
The agreement involves Americold managing storage, handling, and distribution of PLUS's frozen product assortment as the retailer consolidates its frozen operations into a single, integrated cold chain solution with nationwide coverage. The transition will be implemented in phases to support PLUS's national supermarket network across the Netherlands.
"By centralizing our frozen food flow, we are aligning our logistics better with our store network and continuing to work on optimizing the service provided to our stores," said Hans Danhof, Supply Chain Director at PLUS.
Americold's Barneveld facility will provide temperature-controlled storage, inventory management, and order fulfillment services for the retailer's frozen products. The facility supports multi-temperature retail distribution operations.
"We are proud to support PLUS in this strategic transition and to act as an essential link in their supply chain," said Andrew Mates, Managing Director at Americold Europe.
PLUS operates as the only supermarket cooperative in the Netherlands with a market share exceeding 8 percent. The company employs 31,000 people across its retail network and distribution operations.
Americold operates more than 220 temperature-controlled warehouses globally across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America, totaling approximately 1.4 billion refrigerated cubic feet. The company has over 120 years of experience in temperature-controlled logistics and real estate services.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
