AST SpaceMobile Inc. (NASDAQ: ASTS) expressed support for the announced joint venture by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon to develop satellite-based direct-to-device connectivity services.

The three major U.S. mobile network operators plan to collaborate on extending mobile connectivity through satellite technology to eliminate coverage gaps across the United States, according to a company statement.

"AST SpaceMobile is happy to see how the industry is preparing to enable space-based cellular broadband connectivity to every American," said Abel Avellan, the company's chairman and chief executive officer. "We plan to be a key enabler of this transformation as we continue to grow our global network in low Earth orbit and expand available spectrum to our network."

AST SpaceMobile operates satellites equipped with phased arrays in low Earth orbit that connect directly to standard smartphones without requiring specialized equipment. The company has demonstrated data speeds of nearly 100 Mbps from space to mobile devices, with next-generation satellites expected to nearly double that performance.

The company's network operates across approximately 1,150 MHz of spectrum, including mobile operator partners' low-and mid-band spectrum, its own licensed L-band spectrum, and S-band priority rights. AST SpaceMobile maintains 95% vertical integration with manufacturing processes based in Texas across over 500,000 square feet of facilities.
