Intel becomes official compute partner of McLaren Racing teams
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) announced a multi-year partnership with McLaren Racing, making Intel the official compute partner for the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team, and McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team.
Under the agreement, Intel Xeon and Intel Core Ultra processors will support McLaren's computing operations, including computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamic analysis, vehicle-dynamics simulation, race strategy analytics, and real-time decision systems connecting McLaren Technology Centre to race garages worldwide.
The partnership will deploy Intel technologies across McLaren's operations through trackside edge computing for real-time analytics, advanced computing for simulation and digital twins, and AI platforms for design cycles and predictive modeling.
"Formula 1 racing and IndyCar are some of the ultimate proving grounds for high-performance computing," said Lip-Bu Tan, Intel CEO. "Intel is proud to be McLaren Racing's compute partner, and to be part of a team that thrives on precision, speed, and innovation."
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, stated that "Performance in IndyCar and Formula 1 racing is driven by technology, and partnering with Intel strengthens our ability to innovate at scale."
Intel branding will appear on McLaren Mastercard F1 Team cars starting from the Montreal race. The branding will also be featured on Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team cars at the Freedom 250 in Washington, D.C. and at the Indy 500 race in 2027. Intel branding will appear on the virtual McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team car next season.
The partnership focuses on processing large volumes of racing data from telemetry and simulation to support real-time race strategy decisions, where millisecond differences can determine race outcomes.
