Truist tracks Vans TikTok Shop sales amid promotional discipline
Investing.com - Truist Securities is monitoring weekly sales data for multiple brands selling on TikTok Shops, including Vans and Timberland from VF Corporation (NYSE: VFC), Under Armour (NYSE: UAA), Crocs (NASDAQ: CROX), Gap (NYSE: GAP), Ralph Lauren (NYSE: RL), Ulta Beauty (NASDAQ: ULTA), and Shark Ninja (NYSE: SN). The firm tracks total global TikTok posts and views for over 300 hashtags on a weekly basis, with data collection beginning in December 2024 and February 2025.
Vans has maintained pricing discipline on the platform but sales momentum has slowed in recent weeks. In mid-March, Vans recorded a strong week with estimated gross merchandise value exceeding $500,000, driven primarily by the Lil Pergs Tote Bag priced at $35. Since that period, no Vans products have generated significant momentum on its TikTok Shop.
The company continues to sell its top 20 products at full price without promotional discounts. Truist estimates weekly GMV for Vans reached approximately $150,000 this week, calculated using the week-over-week change in total products sold multiplied by a weighted average selling price based on SKU-level data analysis.
The current weekly GMV of $150,000 represents an increase from approximately $80,000 the prior week. The figure remains well below the $500,000-plus level achieved in March.
Truist maintains a Hold rating on VF Corporation and Under Armour. The firm has not rated Crocs, Gap, Ralph Lauren, Ulta Beauty, or Shark Ninja.
