Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) announced a technology partnership with Gotion Inc to develop battery energy storage systems for the U.S. market, according to a company statement. The collaboration between the two Illinois-based companies will produce systems manufactured at Gotion's facility in Manteno, Illinois.

The partnership will introduce two battery energy storage platforms: a 760-kWh system for commercial and industrial applications and a 5 MWh system for utility-scale deployments. The systems are designed to support projects ranging from customized installations to utility projects in the hundreds of megawatts.

Under the agreement, Gotion will provide battery technology from its Illinois manufacturing facility, while Richardson Electronics will handle commercialization, engineering integration, and market strategy. The collaboration targets both utility-scale projects and commercial installations.

"Richardson Electronics is excited to partner with Gotion as we expand our power management and energy storage solutions portfolio," said Greg Peloquin, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Power & Microwave Technologies and Green Energy Solutions groups.

Jacky Yu, VP of Sales at Gotion Inc, stated the partnership "reflects Gotion's long-term commitment to building a localized, resilient battery supply chain in the United States."

The initiative aligns with Illinois' Climate Resilience and Grid Advancement program, which provides rebates of up to $250 per kWh for standalone battery energy storage systems. Richardson Electronics manufactures more than 50% of its products in LaFox, Illinois, Marlborough, Massachusetts, or Donaueschingen, Germany.

Richardson Electronics serves customers in alternative energy, healthcare, aviation, broadcast, communications, industrial, marine, medical, military, scientific and semiconductor markets through its global infrastructure.
