Vishay launches 3000 W transient voltage suppressors in compact package

May 13, 2026 11:00 AM

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH) introduced four series of transient voltage suppressors delivering 3000 W power dissipation in a new DFN6546A package. The company announced the launch of unidirectional and bidirectional surface-mount devices targeting industrial and automotive applications.

The new package measures 6.5 mm x 4.6 mm with a height of 0.88 mm. The devices offer twice the power dissipation of footprint-compatible SMPC packages while maintaining a 20% lower profile. Compared to SMC packages, they provide the same power dissipation while reducing volume by 76%.

The automotive-grade T3KNxxA and T3KNxxCA series carry AEC-Q101 qualification and operate at temperatures up to 185°C. The industrial 3KDFNxxA and 3KDFNxxCA series meet LL15i Industrial Reliability Qualification standards.

Maximum clamping voltages range from 16.7 V to 33.2 V for the T3KNxxA and 3KDFNxxA series, and from 16.7 V to 137 V for the T3KNxxCA and 3KDFNxxCA series. Breakdown voltages span 12 V to 24 V for unidirectional devices and 12 V to 100 V for bidirectional versions.

The devices feature wettable flanks enabling automatic optical inspection without X-ray requirements. They carry a moisture sensitivity level of 1 per J-STD-020 standards with a maximum peak temperature rating of 260°C.

Targeted applications include advanced driver assistance systems, battery management systems, electric power steering, automation systems, energy storage systems, and server power modules. The devices protect electronics against voltage transients from inductive load switching and lightning.

Samples and production quantities are available with 12-week lead times, according to the company's announcement.
