ADTRAN expands SDG 8700 Series with Wi-Fi 7 gateway platforms

May 13, 2026 8:01 AM

ADTRAN Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN) announced an expansion of its SDG 8700 Series to include Wi-Fi 7 capabilities across residential and small business service offerings. The company introduced new 2.5Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s Wi-Fi 7 platforms designed to support multigigabit services across residential, small and medium business, multi-dwelling unit and community Wi-Fi deployments.

The expanded portfolio includes third-generation dual-band and tri-band Wi-Fi 7 gateways with 2.5GbE and 10GbE connectivity options and optional voice configurations. The devices operate on ADTRAN's SmartOS platform, which provides a unified software environment across the SDG portfolio.

"Service providers are telling us the decision to adopt Wi-Fi 7 has already been made. The real challenge is deploying it widely and consistently," said Christoph Glingener, chief technology officer of ADTRAN.

The gateways include support for Intellifi, TR-369 and Plume platforms. ADTRAN stated that service providers can use these platforms while maintaining operational consistency and simplified lifecycle management.

The launch follows the Federal Communications Commission's conditional approval of ADTRAN's SDG portfolio. ADTRAN Holdings operates as the parent company of ADTRAN Inc., which provides networking and communications solutions globally.
