Curis reports $24.2 million quarterly loss amid clinical trials
Curis Inc. (NASDAQ: CRIS) reported a net loss of $24.2 million, or $1.25 per share, for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, compared to a net loss of $10.6 million, or $1.25 per share, in the same period last year, according to a company statement.
The biotechnology company reported no revenues for the quarter, following the sale of Erivedge royalties to Oberland in the fourth quarter of 2025. In the prior year quarter, revenues were $2.4 million from royalties on Genentech and Roche's net sales of Erivedge.
Research and development expenses decreased to $6.4 million from $8.5 million year-over-year, primarily due to lower employee-related and manufacturing costs. General and administrative expenses increased to $5.1 million from $4.0 million, mainly due to expenses related to the January 2026 private placement financing.
The company's cash and cash equivalents totaled $15.0 million as of March 31, 2026. Curis completed a private placement in January 2026 with gross proceeds of up to $80.8 million, including initial proceeds of approximately $20.2 million and three series of warrants exercisable for up to $20.2 million each at $0.75 per share.
Curis is developing emavusertib, an oral small molecule IRAK4 and FLT3 inhibitor, in multiple clinical trials. The company is conducting a Phase 1/2 trial combining emavusertib with ibrutinib for relapsed or refractory primary CNS lymphoma, intended to support regulatory filings for accelerated approval in the US and Europe. A Phase 2 trial combining emavusertib with zanubrutinib in chronic lymphocytic leukemia was recently initiated.
The company expects to announce dosing of the initial five patients in the chronic lymphocytic leukemia study by mid-2026, with data expected in December 2026. Updated data from the primary CNS lymphoma study is expected in the first half of 2027.
Curis projects its current cash, together with anticipated proceeds from warrant exercises, should fund operations into the second half of 2027.
