May 12, 2026 1:12 PM

Investing.com - Anthropic PBC announced on Tuesday a set of 12 new tools designed for legal professionals to use with its Claude chatbot. The features target attorneys, law students and others in the legal sector.

The new offerings include a commercial counsel tool for reviewing vendor agreements and a feature to assist with bar exam preparation. Anthropic also introduced integrations allowing Claude to connect with software from DocuSign Inc. and Thomson Reuters Corp., as well as Harvey, a competing AI legal service.

The legal features will be accessible to paying customers through Claude Cowork, an AI agent designed for office work, and through third-party services built on Claude.

Anthropic and OpenAI have focused on developing artificial intelligence tools to handle a broader range of professional tasks across sectors including financial services and health care. The effort aims to attract more business customers. Anthropic is valued at $380 billion and has recently considered funding offers exceeding $900 billion. The company may go public this year.

In February, Anthropic introduced a tool for Claude Cowork to automate certain legal work, including contract reviewing and legal briefings. The release contributed to a $1 trillion stock market decline.

Following the February release, lawyers began using Claude at the highest rate of any profession, excluding software developers, according to Mark Pike, Anthropic's associate general counsel. The company recently held a webcast on using Claude for legal tasks, which attracted more than 20,000 legal professionals, Pike said.
