Lockheed Martin tests battlefield data system in Indo-Pacific exercise
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) demonstrated its NGC2 prototype battlefield data integration system during the Balikatan 2026 military exercise, the company announced. The system connected sensors, weapons systems, and airspace management through a unified data platform across multiple locations in the Indo-Pacific region.
The demonstration involved collaboration between Lockheed Martin, the U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Division, multiple military commands, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Marine forces. Operations were conducted simultaneously from Hawaii, the continental United States, and the Philippines.
The exercise marked the first division-level demonstration of cross-domain data sharing for the NGC2 system in the 25th Infantry Division's operational environment across geographically dispersed locations. The company stated the results will inform Army modernization decisions for large-scale combat operations in the Indo-Pacific.
During the Counter Landing Live Fire exercise, the NGC2 prototype linked sensors and edge nodes in the Philippines with command nodes in Hawaii and the continental United States. The system provided real-time battlefield visualization to U.S. and allied forces across the distributed theater.
Military personnel tested sensor-to-shooter workflows while Apache helicopters, Howitzers, Mortars, and HIMARS weapon systems executed fires. The NGC2 system recorded and displayed real-time operational data, including performance metrics and battle damage assessments.
The system integrated data from multiple radar and data links into a single operational interface, streaming live GPS and flight path data. This enabled real-time airspace lane visualization and immediate safety cues for pilots and ground forces.
"During Balikatan, success came down to how well we could integrate across Army units, joint forces and Indo-Pacific partners," said Chandra Marshall, vice president of Multi-Domain Combat Systems at Lockheed Martin.
