Intellia short interest rises most among biotech stocks in latest period - Baird
Investing.com -- Baird's latest biotech short interest update shows Intellia Therapeutics (NASDAQ: NTLA) recorded the highest absolute increase in short interest over the past two weeks, rising 4 percentage points to 39% from 35%, according to data as of April 30, 2026.
Denali Therapeutics (NASDAQ: DNTH) saw the largest absolute decrease in short interest, dropping 12 percentage points to 13% from 25% during the same period.
Eight stocks in Baird's biotech coverage have short interest exceeding 20% of float. NTLA, Iovance Biotherapeutics (NASDAQ: IOVA), CRISPR Therapeutics (NASDAQ: CRSP), and Karyopharm Therapeutics (NASDAQ: KPTI) are the four most heavily shorted names across the firm's biotech coverage, according to FactSet data.
Total shares sold short across all 65 covered biotech companies increased 1.3% versus the prior period, Baird said. This compares to a 3.4% decrease in the previous report from approximately two weeks earlier.
During the two-week period covered by the latest report, the SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (NYSE: XBI) declined 3.8%.
