Samsara launches three AI solutions for public sector operations

May 12, 2026 9:01 AM

Samsara Inc. (NYSE: IOT) announced three AI-powered solutions designed for government agencies and public sector organizations. The Ground Intelligence, Waste Intelligence, and Ridership Management solutions target infrastructure monitoring, waste management verification, and student transportation tracking.

Ground Intelligence uses data from Samsara's vehicle network across major U.S. roads to detect road conditions including potholes and weather damage. The system provides severity-based mapping and includes StreetSense functionality for accessing ground-level footage from vehicles. According to the 2025 American Society of Civil Engineers Report Card cited by Samsara, approximately 39% of major U.S. roads remain in poor or mediocre condition.

"Kalamazoo County, MI, handles roughly 6,000 pothole service requests every year, and with a lean team, we're always looking for smarter ways to serve our community," said Rusty McClain, Assistant Operations Director for Road Commission, Kalamazoo County.

Waste Intelligence uses AI and multicam video to verify waste pickup services and resolve disputes. The solution includes Service Verification for confirming pickups and Overfill Detection for policy enforcement with timestamped records.

Ridership Management creates digital manifests for school transportation, replacing paper-based systems with real-time tracking from pickup to drop-off. The system includes safety check workflows and automated reporting capabilities for school districts.

The company presented these solutions at its Go Beyond Public Sector event in Chicago, where it also recognized Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Garden City Public Schools with Connected Operations Awards. The solutions are now available through Samsara's Connected Operations Platform.
