Klarna adds flexible payments to Google Search and Gemini app

May 12, 2026 9:01 AM

Klarna (NYSE: KLAR) announced it will integrate its flexible payment options into Google's Gemini app and Google Search through Google Pay in the United States, according to a company statement.

The integration allows consumers shopping through these Google platforms to access Klarna's payment services, including four interest-free installments and longer-term financing options for larger purchases. Each transaction includes an affordability check as part of Klarna's underwriting process.

Users will see a Klarna button at checkout when using Google Pay on these platforms, eliminating the need to leave the conversation or search interface to complete purchases.

The partnership builds on existing integrations between Klarna and Google services, including Google Pay, Google Store, Google Play, and Google Cloud. The new functionality operates within Google Pay for checkout on Google platforms using the Universal Commerce Protocol.

Klarna reported having over 118 million global active users and processes 3.4 million transactions daily. The company provides payment services to more than one million retailers globally.

The integration represents an expansion of buy-now-pay-later services into AI-powered search and conversational commerce platforms, where consumers can discover and purchase products without navigating to separate retail websites.
