Swarmer partners with three firms to develop drone defense system
Swarmer Inc. (NASDAQ: SWMR) announced a collaboration with X-Drone, Norda Dynamics and Kara Dag Technologies to develop an integrated drone interceptor system. The Austin-based drone autonomy software company will lead the integration of detection, counter-drone and targeting systems into its collaborative autonomy platform.
The partnership aims to create a defense system against Group 1-3 unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned surface vessels up to eight meters in length. The companies signed memorandums of understanding to develop what they describe as a turnkey service for site defense.
"Interception is a complex process that requires detection, coordination, terminal guidance and kinetic engagement," said Erik Prince, Non-Executive Chairman of Swarmer. "An end-to-end interception stack requires multiple products integrated with a single software platform."
X-Drone, a Ukrainian company, has delivered more than 70,000 unmanned systems to front lines and develops drone-based interceptors. Norda Dynamics provides terminal guidance and navigation software that has been deployed on more than 60,000 drones used by Ukraine's armed forces. Kara Dag Technologies supplies portable detection equipment and has deployed more than 3,000 detector units to the Ukrainian military.
Swarmer completed an initial public offering on Nasdaq in March, becoming what it describes as the first defense technology company from Ukraine's defense ecosystem to do so. The company reports supporting more than 100,000 combat missions in Ukraine since April 2024.
The collaboration involves non-binding agreements, and the companies have not announced specific timelines or financial terms for the development of the integrated system.
