Global Payments Inc. (NYSE: GPN) announced an exclusive agreement with CKE Restaurants Holdings Inc., the operator of Hardee's and Carl's Jr. quick service restaurant chains, to provide point of sale and in-store payment solutions across the United States.

Under the agreement, CKE Restaurants will deploy Global Payments' Genius platform at more than 2,400 corporate and franchise restaurant locations nationwide. The Genius system serves as Global Payments' flagship point of sale and business management platform.

The deal expands an existing relationship between the companies. CKE selected Global Payments based on the payment technology company's experience with large-scale restaurant operations, according to the announcement.

"We are thrilled to play a greatly expanded role helping the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. brands delight customers with seamless payment experiences while streamlining restaurant operations," said David Rumph, president of the SMB business at Global Payments.

The Genius platform includes payment processing, kitchen management, loyalty programs, real-time reporting, drive-through technology, digital menu boards and kiosk capabilities. The system is designed to handle multi-location enterprise restaurant operations.

"We wanted a partner that could offer more capabilities as part of a single, integrated solution – without sacrificing quality or reliability," said Ryan Mollenkopf, vice president of IT at CKE.

Global Payments, headquartered in Atlanta, provides payment technology and software services to businesses worldwide. The company processes transactions across more than 175 countries and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

CKE Restaurants operates the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. restaurant brands through corporate and franchise locations throughout the United States.
