Ainos Inc. (NASDAQ: AIMD) announced it updated its Standard Industrial Classification code from SIC 2834 - Pharmaceutical Preparations to SIC 3577 - Computer Peripheral Equipment, NEC. The company said the change reflects its operational shift toward AI-powered sensing and scent intelligence technologies.

The Houston-based company develops AI Nose, a platform that converts volatile organic compound and scent signals into machine-readable data using artificial intelligence models and sensor technologies. Ainos is pursuing commercial deployments across semiconductor manufacturing, robotics, smart infrastructure, and healthcare environments.

"The updated industry classification reflects the continued evolution of our business from healthcare-originated applications toward AI-powered sensing and environmental intelligence technologies," said Eddy Tsai, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ainos.

The company noted that AI Nose integrates sensor arrays with AI algorithms designed for scent detection sensitivity and operates under a subscription-based service model. Ainos said it has accumulated more than a decade of scent data for its platform development.

Ainos also maintains a biotech division developing VELDONA, an oral interferon treatment targeting rare, autoimmune, and infectious diseases. The company is classified under the Global Industry Classification Standard within Technology Hardware, Storage & Peripherals.

The SIC code update does not change the company's business operations, financial condition, SEC reporting obligations, or Nasdaq listing status, according to the company's statement.
