May 11, 2026 8:02 AM

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE: BK) announced it will change its stock ticker symbol from "BK" to "BNY" effective May 21, 2026, on the New York Stock Exchange.

The company's common stock will begin trading under the new ticker symbol BNY on that date. BNY will celebrate the change by ringing the closing bell at the NYSE on May 21, 2026.

"BNY has long stood for trust, resilience and our central role in global capital markets. As we continue reimagining ourselves as a financial services platforms company for the future, changing our ticker to BNY reflects who we are today and where we're headed," said Robin Vince, CEO of BNY.

The ticker symbol changes will also affect the company's preferred stock. The Series A Preferred Stock ticker will change from "BK/P" to "BNY/P", and the Series K Preferred Stock ticker will change from "BK PRK" to "BNY PRK".

Current shareholders do not need to take any action regarding the ticker symbol changes. Outstanding stock certificates will remain valid and do not need to be exchanged. Shares held in book-entry form or through financial intermediaries will automatically reflect the new ticker symbol.

The ticker symbol change will not affect the company's legal name, capital structure, CUSIP numbers, or shareholder rights. BNY's securities will continue to be listed on the NYSE.

As of March 31, 2026, BNY oversees $59.4 trillion in assets under custody and administration and $2.1 trillion in assets under management, according to the press release statement.
