E-Power subsidiary receives $294,000 government grant for battery materials

E-Power Inc. (NASDAQ: EPOW) announced that its subsidiary Sunrise (Guizhou) New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. received a $294,000 special fund from the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission. The grant supports the "Guizhou Carbon-Based Anode Material Industrial Technology Engineering Center Innovation Capability Construction Project."



The funding was awarded as part of the 2026 provincial budget for capital construction investment, according to the company's statement. The Guizhou Carbon-Based Anode Material Engineering Research Center aims to integrate scientific and industrial innovation in battery material development.



The center will provide support across the value chain from research and development to commercialization of scientific achievements. It also focuses on developing the carbon-based anode material industry cluster within Guizhou Province and integrating provincial innovation resources.



"Receiving this special funding from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission is a testament to the strategic importance of our engineering research center," said Haiping Hu, Chairman of E-Power. "This investment will significantly enhance our innovation capabilities, allowing us to accelerate the transition of laboratory breakthroughs into industrial-scale applications that power the global AI and electric vehicle revolutions."



E-Power operates through a joint venture that manufactures and sells graphite anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The company has completed construction of a manufacturing facility with a production capacity of 50,000 tons. Sunrise New Energy focuses on advanced anode materials including high-performance graphite, silicon-carbon, and hard carbon materials.
