MIMEDX launches G4Derm Plus wound care product with nationwide sales
MiMedx Group Inc. (NASDAQ: MDXG) announced the commercial launch of G4Derm Plus, a flowable biomimetic matrix for wound management. The company reported that initial sales have been delivered to customers nationwide.
MIMEDX acquired exclusive distribution rights for G4Derm Plus in the United States. The product utilizes self-assembling peptide technology to form a three-dimensional scaffold that mimics native extracellular matrix.
G4Derm Plus is designed to manage complex wounds by supporting tissue regrowth and serving as an antibacterial barrier. The product received 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration.
"This launch showcases our efforts to leverage our sizable commercial reach to expand solutions available to clinicians in the markets we serve," said Eric Smith, MIMEDX senior vice president of marketing and international operations.
The company secured group purchasing organization agreements for the product with Premier and Vizient, enabling distribution across participating hospital networks.
Dr. John Lantis, site-chief and professor of surgery at Mount Sinai West Hospital and Icahn School of Medicine, described the product as "an exciting self-assembling peptide" that organizes into a scaffold while potentially inhibiting bacteria.
The flowable nature of G4Derm Plus allows clinicians to address the three-dimensional aspects of wounds. The resorbable matrix facilitates revascularization, granulation tissue formation, and re-epithelization according to the company.
MIMEDX focuses on wound care, burn, and surgical healthcare sectors. The company has operated in chronic and hard-to-heal wound management for more than 15 years.
