Burford Capital names Travis Lenkner as chief operating officer
Burford Capital (NYSE: BUR) appointed Travis Lenkner as chief operating officer, the litigation finance firm announced. Lenkner, currently serving as chief development officer, will continue operating from London and oversee execution and operating performance across business units.
In his expanded role, Lenkner will maintain responsibility for global business development, marketing, corporate development and enterprise initiatives. He will also join Burford's Commitments Committee and co-chair the Operating Committee alongside Chief Financial Officer Jordan Licht.
Lenkner entered legal finance in 2013 as a launch partner of Gerchen Keller Capital, which Burford acquired in 2016. He later co-founded a U.S. complex litigation law firm before returning to Burford in 2024. His background includes serving as in-house counsel at The Boeing Company and as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.
The company also promoted Carrie Tendler to managing director and head of its asset recovery team. Tendler joined Burford in 2024 as special counsel after working as a partner at Kobre & Kim and previously at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
"Travis's expanded role as Chief Operating Officer strengthens the firm and underscores the depth of leadership we have built across the business," said CEO Christopher Bogart in a statement.
Burford Capital trades on both the New York Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange, providing litigation finance and asset management services focused on law from offices worldwide.
