TELUS names Gopi Chande as CFO to replace retiring Doug French
TELUS (TSX: T, NYSE: TU) announced Doug French will retire as chief financial officer on June 30, 2026, after 30 years with the telecommunications company. Gopi Chande, currently CFO of TELUS Digital and TELUS Health, will succeed French as CFO effective July 1, 2026.
French will continue in an advisory capacity until July 31 to support the transition and will remain as chair of the board of TELUS's Terrion tower company. French served as CFO for 10 years and progressed through various finance roles at TELUS over his three-decade tenure.
Chande brings 16 years of experience at TELUS and over 30 years of financial expertise. She previously served as CFO of TELUS Digital, guiding the company through its public trading period on the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange before its 2025 privatization. She also held roles as TELUS treasurer and vice-president business partner for various divisions.
Before joining TELUS, Chande worked 10 years at KPMG directing audit and advisory services for technology companies including Netflix and SAP. She holds Chartered Professional Accountant designations.
"Doug has materially influenced the financial success of our organisation," said Darren Entwistle, TELUS president and CEO. The company noted French's role in securing long-term debt with an average term to maturity of nearly 15 years at a weighted average cost of 4.77 percent.
TELUS operates in more than 45 countries and generates over $20 billion in annual revenue with more than 21 million customer connections, according to the company statement.
