STERIS plc (NYSE: STE) appointed Pierre Boulud to its board of directors, effective May 5, according to a company statement.

Boulud serves as CEO of bioMérieux, a diagnostics company, a position he has held since 2023. He joined bioMérieux in 2016 as corporate vice president for the Asia Pacific region and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2020.

Before joining bioMérieux, Boulud worked for 14 years at Ipsen, a biotechnology company, where he served as executive vice president of specialty care commercial operations. He previously worked as a strategic consultant at Boston Consulting Group.

"His leadership experience, global perspective, strategic acumen, and operational expertise make him an excellent addition to the Board," said Mohsen Sohi, STERIS chairman, in the statement.

STERIS provides healthcare products and services focused on infection prevention. The Dublin-based company operates globally in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
