Rocket Lab wins $30M Anduril contract for hypersonic test flights
Rocket Lab Corporation (NASDAQ: RKLB) announced it has been selected by Anduril Industries for a multi-launch contract to conduct three hypersonic test flights using its HASTE launch vehicle. The contract is valued at $30 million according to the press release.
The test launches will take place from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 in Virginia and are fully funded through Anduril's internal capital. The first mission is scheduled to launch within 12 months of the contract award.
"HASTE represents speed, affordability, and reliable hypersonic technology testing, and that's a powerful combination for the United States' government and industry partners like Anduril," said Rocket Lab founder and CEO Peter Beck.
Anduril's SVP of Engineering Gokul Subramanian stated the collaboration aims to advance complex defense problems in the space domain through cost-effective solutions.
According to the company, Rocket Lab maintains a 100% mission success rate for HASTE launches since the program began in 2023. The missions will serve as testbeds for developing hypersonic technologies capable of Mach 5 and beyond speeds.
The announcement follows Rocket Lab's previous contract with the Test Resource Management Center for 20 HASTE launches over four years as part of the MACH-TB 2.0 program. Combined with existing contracts, HASTE missions represent approximately one-third of Rocket Lab's current backlog of over 70 launches.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
