Rocket Lab books largest contract with 8 launches through 2029
Rocket Lab Corporation (NASDAQ: RKLB) announced it has signed its largest launch contract with an undisclosed customer for eight dedicated missions scheduled between 2026 and 2029.
The multi-launch agreement includes five Neutron launches and three Electron launches from both Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand and Launch Complex 3 in Virginia. The company stated that pricing aligns with its average selling price for both rocket types, though specific financial terms were not disclosed.
The contract brings Rocket Lab's total launch manifest to more than 70 missions and values the company's overall backlog at more than $2.2 billion. This award follows Rocket Lab's completion of 87 Electron launches and represents growth in the company's launch cadence.
"This record launch contract sends a clear signal: the space industry needs more launch capacity and it needs it from launch providers who know how to deliver," said Peter Beck, Rocket Lab's founder and CEO.
The company reported that it has sold more launches in the first three months of 2026 than in the full year 2025. This new contract surpasses Rocket Lab's previous record set in the first quarter of 2026 with a $190 million contract for 20 hypersonic test flights using its HASTE launch vehicle for the Department of War.
Rocket Lab operates three launch vehicles: Electron for small satellite launches, HASTE for hypersonic flight tests, and Neutron, which is in development for medium-lift missions. The Neutron rocket is designed for reusability and can deliver up to 13,000 kg of payload to orbit.
The information comes from a company press release statement.
