WNBA partners with Amazon Web Services for AI-driven fan platform

May 7, 2026 10:00 AM

The Women's National Basketball Association announced a multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services to enhance fan engagement through artificial intelligence and cloud computing technology. AWS becomes the league's Official Cloud and Cloud AI Partner and joins the WNBA Changemakers Collective.

The partnership centers on WNBA Inside the Game powered by AWS, an advanced statistics platform that converts real-time player tracking data into analytics for fans. The platform will be available through the WNBA App, WNBA.com and during live games.

The system will introduce AI-powered metrics including WNBA Gravity and WNBA Shot Difficulty, which analyze player impact on defenses and shot attempt difficulty. These features represent new analytics applications for women's professional basketball.

"We view this partnership as integral to the next phase of growth for the WNBA," said WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison. "From unlocking deeper insights to creating more immersive fan experiences and driving innovation, we are excited to welcome AWS as a partner and Changemaker."

AWS will serve as Presenting Partner of WNBA Live, the league's fan festival during the 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star event in Chicago on July 24-25 at McCormick Place.

The partnership marks AWS's first agreement with a women's professional sports league. AWS joins the WNBA Changemakers Collective alongside Ally, AT&T, CarMax, Deloitte, Google and Nike as companies supporting league growth and visibility.

The WNBA enters its 30th season in 2026 following a new Collective Bargaining Agreement reached in March 2026. The information was provided in a press release statement from the organizations.
