Novartis breaks ground on Texas radioligand therapy manufacturing site

May 7, 2026 9:01 AM

Novartis broke ground on a 46,000-square-foot radioligand therapy manufacturing facility in Denton, Texas, marking construction progress across its U.S. expansion plan. The site represents the company's first manufacturing facility in Texas and fifth radioligand therapy location nationwide.

The facility is expected to become operational in 2028 and will create jobs in bioengineering, advanced manufacturing, quality, and operations. Construction is part of Novartis' $23 billion investment in U.S. research and manufacturing announced in April 2025.

"Radioligand therapy is transforming how we treat cancer, and expanded manufacturing is essential to delivering these therapies at scale," said Vas Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis.

The Texas facility joins existing U.S. radioligand therapy sites in New Jersey, Indiana, and California, with an additional location planned for Florida. Radioligand therapy requires custom manufacturing for each dose and precise coordination for delivery to treatment centers.

U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce Jeffrey Kessler, Swiss Ambassador to the U.S. Ralf Heckner, Texas State Senator Brent Hagenbuch, and other officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The company's five-year U.S. investment plan includes seven new facilities and three expansions currently under construction. Recent milestones include a biomedical research center groundbreaking in San Diego in February 2026 and announcement of a facility in Morrisville, North Carolina in April 2026.

Novartis operates a radioligand therapy pipeline investigating applications across multiple cancer types including prostate, breast, colon, lung, brain, and pancreatic cancers. The company reports enabling more than 99% of doses to be administered on the planned treatment day.
