Starfighters Space hires Blue Origin executives for space program
Starfighters Space Inc. (NYSE American: FJET) appointed two former Blue Origin executives to senior positions as the company develops its STARLAUNCH air-launch platform.
Jose Arias joined as Vice President of Space Operations, while Catrina L. Medeiros was named Director of STARLAUNCH Operations. Both executives previously worked on Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket program.
Arias served as Senior Manufacturing Engineer and Integration & Production Lead at Blue Origin, where he led process improvements that reduced integration cycle time from 76 days to 13 days. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of South Florida and is pursuing a master's degree in space operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Medeiros worked as Operations Manager for Blue Origin's New Glenn Stage 2 and Precision Cleaning Facility programs. She previously spent over ten years at Lockheed Martin Space Systems as a Senior Manufacturing Planner on NASA's Orion crew module program at Kennedy Space Center.
The appointments support Starfighters' Wind Tunnel in the Sky and STARLAUNCH I programs. The Wind Tunnel in the Sky uses F-104 aircraft flying at Mach 2 for over ten minutes to generate aerodynamic data equivalent to 20 traditional ground wind tunnel runs in a single 45-minute flight.
Starfighters operates from NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida and maintains a fleet of modified supersonic aircraft designed to carry payloads to 45,000 feet for air launch to space. The company has partnerships with GE Aerospace for its STARLAUNCH 1 platform, Blackstar Orbital for technical development, and Mu-G Technologies for microgravity missions.
