Lakeland Industries transitions LHD Germany to third-party logistics
Lakeland Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: LAKE) completed the transition of its LHD Germany operations from Wessling, Germany to a third-party logistics model with Dekkers Logistics, effective May 1. The company expects the move to generate approximately $300,000 in annual lease cost savings.
The protective clothing manufacturer also appointed Sascha Mueller as LHD Director of Sales for Germany. Mueller brings over 30 years of experience in the fire and safety industry, having previously served as International Sales Director at Safety Components USA and S-GARD Germany.
Lakeland plans to relaunch and rebrand LHD Germany at Interschutz 2026 in Hanover, Germany, scheduled for June 1-6. The trade show serves as the largest global event for the fire service industry.
"We have now completed the move from Wessling to a 3PL model, taking fixed cost out of the business, improving flexibility, and giving us a structure that can scale as demand builds," said Jim Jenkins, President and CEO of Lakeland Industries.
The operational changes represent continued steps since Lakeland's acquisition of LHD to reduce fixed costs and implement a more efficient operating structure. Mueller will work alongside the existing LHD Germany team led by Klaus Hawerkamp.
Kevin Rae, Executive Vice President of EMEA Fire Sales, noted that Mueller "brings more than 30 years of experience in the fire and safety industry and is a strong addition to our commercial leadership in Germany."
The company manufactures protective clothing and accessories for industrial and first responder markets, selling products globally through in-house sales teams and authorized distributors.
